An Attack on Foreign Competition

InBev frogs just aren’t as cool as Bud-Weis-Er

I have had it, people. This foreign outsourcing of our jobs has finally reached a height that has made my blood officially boil. The straw that broke this camel’s back had nothing to do with lines of picketers or the underemployed masses of dislocated workers. No, it was much simpler than that. 4 letters, my friends, have sent me over the edge: B-E-E-R.

Anheuser Busch has been sold to Belgians. How can this be? Budweiser is just as American as apple pie or baseball. Now the Belgians have control? WTF! Major brewer InBev has purchased the popular St. Louis based company for $52 billion. Now it can add Bud Light, Michelob, and college favorites Natty Light and Busch, to its already impressive lineup of Stella Artois and Beck’s. Well, I hope you folks know that you sold your soul, and our beer patriotism, for $52 billion. What would Aldolphus Busch say?

There has yet to be word one how this “merger” will affect the thousands of A-B employees around the U.S. InBev says they have the best intentions at heart and plan on keeping the company operating throughout the U.S., but I think we have seen stuff like this before. Go ahead and tour the Mexican side of the U.S.-Mexico border and see how many low paid workers you see doing our ex-American jobs. I have 0 problems with foreign competition. Hell, I even drink the occasional Guinness or Boddington. However, I can’t help but think we are giving away one of two our countries greatest and most scarce resources… good jobs and cheap beer. Good luck St. Louis! It may be time for you folks to switch to Miller.

Whassup! commercials in Dutch just aren’t that cool either

Sorry to burst your bubble, Mestew. But the US has been getting most of it’s apples from China. As far as the baseball? Look to Japan and the Dominican for that.

Speaking of foreign outsourcing, if there are any young little senoritas out there, with an athletic build and beaming eyes looking to pick up a few odd jobs throughout the week in this bad economy, drop M.E. a line!
