Another Shameful Day in the “D”

Kwame is a man about town

Michigan, home of the auto industry and high unemployment, must now heal from yet another black eye. As usual, it has been provided by its biggest city, Detroit. As if the Lions weren’t bad enough, now they are forced to deal with political insanity. The city of boarded up factories and plummeting property values has just thrown its Mayor, the not so honorable Kwame Kilpatrick, into jail for breaking the terms of his bond for an ongoing perjury and obstruction case. Apparently you are not allowed to leave the country when out on bond. Who knew? Well, Kwame didn’t when he traveled for “official city business” to Canada last month. How come I think “official city business” is code word for running drugs or trafficking women or some other ridiculous felony? It could be because this guy reminds me more of Suge Knight then a respectable policy maker. Kilpatrick will go on trial soon for lying under oath when being questioned by authorities regarding inappropriate relationships and conversations between him and a subordinate. In short, he was banging a girl that worked for him while he was married. Other allegations of fraud and mishandling of city funds have also marred this loser’s administration. Detroit has been the laughing stock of the nation for years with its high crime rates and extreme poverty. Now we can add governmental corruption to our pride list. At least we still have the Red Wings!

I guess Kwame wasn’t too happy with receiving his subpoena - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/09/us/09detroit.html?_r=2&partner=rssnyt&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

What kills me is that I did not know that Michigan’s attorney Grneral is named Mike Cox. Get it? Mike Cox.
