“Urine” trouble, KDND-FM

30 October 2009 No Comment

Jennifer StrangeJanuary 2007, in a promotion titled “Hold your Wee for a Wii” (true story, not making this up), radio station KDND-FM asked contestants to drink a lot of water and not go to the bathroom. The person lasting the longest would win a Nintendo Wii. The ultimate loser in the contest? Jennifer Strange. Not only did Jenny lose out on the Wii, she lost her life. There’s this little thing called “acute water intoxication” that the radio station possibly should have considered before promoting this contest. Due to holding in all that water, her body suffered an extreme electrolyte imbalance and it killed her.

Yesterday, a court ordered the station to pay $16.5 million after finding them responsible for Jenny’s death. That’s equivalent to 82,500 Wii consoles. If they only would have thought of that instead. What a pisser!
