Obviously not much going on

How long has it been since the last post, Mestew?! What the hell is going on!? Well, we’re not the only ones out there with not much going on. Think about your lives over the past week. Get together with friends much lately? Us either. Complete a pretty sweet project lately? Us either. Anything in the news gotten under your skin lately? Ours either. In my observation of the past week, people are doing two things: Christmas shopping and playing Facebook games. I understand the first part, it wouldn’t be …

Party Like its 2009?

Oh god…It’s almost a new decade. What the hell happened to the last 10 years? Wasn’t it yesterday when we were ringing in the new millennium to the sultry smooth sounds of Prince? Since then, even Dick Clark has managed to age himself out of the annual change over process. Ugh, growing old sucks. Remember when a year seemed like it took forever? I want those days back. Oh well, I will just have to get over it. Let’s take a look at some major occurrences from the last 10 years…

Down with street solicitors

One of the many things I hated about living in Chicago were the damn street solicitors. Every single street corner and sometimes even at mid-block, these bastards would hit people up for “a minute for the environment” or “a moment to save the children.” I can bet I’m not the only person that did this, but I would often choose what side of the street I would walk on depending on where these people were standing. A common thought to myself was, “oh, they’re standing in between me and Potbelly, …

Estew’s Bowl Season Bonanza

OK, I still hate the BCS. This year it probably got it right, but I still hate it. How cool would a 8 team playoff of Alabama, Texas, TCU, Boise St, Cincinnati, Florida, Ohio St., Oregon and Georgia Tech be? Very cool, that’s how cool! Anyway, Alabama/Texas is sure to be a great game…but not the best game. Let’s see how the schedule shakes out.
The “No Respect” Bowl- - Utah vs. California: Great offenses=great fun. I look forward to these fast teams, but it will pass without much hype.
The “Whogivesacrap” Bowl- Insight …

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Before you strike up the Christmas tunes as background music for this post, it’s not about the holiday season. It’s about the baseball off-season. For one week in December every year, the baseball owners and general managers meet with agents and players to knock out deals, contract extensions, and other business. The Baseball Winter Meetings this year are being held in Indianapolis. If you are a baseball nerd junkie like me, continue on. Otherwise, go back to searching for holiday music now that it’s in your head.
The biggest free agents …

An open letter to Elin Nordegren

Dear Elin,
I am writing to express my sorrows after learning more each day about the unhappiness that El Tigre has brought you. What started with a National Enquirer story has now turned into embarrassing voice mails, text messages, and repetitive lies in the press. You and your family don’t deserve to be treated that way. Let M.E. step forward and offer a helping hand.
Just this morning, I read that if you were to leave Tiger, you would receive roughly $300 million in the divorce settlement – not including the $2.6 …

Rollin’ down the street

This is a must-have for the TomTom GPS owner in your family this holiday season. It’s the Snoop Dogg Voice Skin. Most people that have GPS systems in their car are told directions by either an Englishman or some uppity chick. You make a wrong turn and right away, you find yourself yelling at the LCD screen “you think you’re better than me?!” as it corrects you. Well, with the Snoop Dogg Voice Skin, for $12.95, you can have the Doggfather himself navigate through your TomTom. Will this be on …

Wild Week of Sports

Last night wrapped up a pretty exciting week of Sports in America. With the thrashing Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints laid on incomparable Hoodie-master and his boy Brady, the insanity has finally calmed down. The human body pillow and his Fighting Irish made headlines as they roared once again to the mediocrity that ultimately lost Weis his job. Then we had the announcement of retirements from NBA superstar turned thug Allen Iverson and FSU legend Bobby Bowden. Oh, and it is very possible you slept through another Thanksgiving …
