Don’t know if you’ve been following the possible Isiah overdose story… don’t know if you care. There is one piece of the story, a very disturbing piece, that I wanted your take on. Here’s the scoop: Last week, police responded to a call to Isiah Thomas’ home. The report says the police found a 47-year old man passed out on the floor due to an overdose on sleeping pills (FYI - Isiah is a 47-year old man). After this story hit the news, Isiah responded to the report by saying it wasn’t him but it was his 17-year old daughter that overdosed as she is suffering from depression at this time.
Ok, the police report verifies that it was a 47-year old male treated, not a 17-year old female. Police Chief David Hall said, “As parents, you try to protect your kids; you don’t say they did something when it was you who did it. We know the difference between a 47-year old man and a teenager.” Mestew Nation, what are your thoughts on Isiah using his teenage daughter as a cover-up?

Yesterday, the Dow closed at 8,579. This is the lowest it’s been in over five years and down nearly 40% from its record high, ironically a year ago today. Can we call it official, we’re in a depression? Sure we can, we’re Mestew Nation! Now, the most famous depression of the 1930s is known as The Great Depression. So… that name has been taken. Nation, it is now up to you to give our latest cloud of financial hardship and unemployment a name. Come up with a name and leave it in the comments section. The winner will be chosen by us and the winning name will be used anytime we reference this economic disaster in a post from here on out!
In a somewhat related note, next week, Mestew will be introducing a week-long segment titled Glory Days. Estew and I will be sharing stories and thoughts of things that got us excited when we were younger and times were simpler. As always, we encourage you to share your Glory Days stories with the rest of us.

All you need do is check the front page of CNN.com to know where the worries of America lie. Every story is about our economic crisis. Well, every story other than the one about Elizabeth Hasselback possibly leaving “The View.” Even that probably has something to do with our unstable socioeconomic environment. Well worry not Nation, we will be fine. Sure, there are some long, dark days ahead of us, but we will persevere. Put a smile on your face and think of the Sam’s Club Sandwich guy. (more…)

Mestew Nation, what’s the deal! I’ll tell you what, times are tough right now. Gas prices are not going lower. The stock market is teetering near crashing. Major banks and investment firms are either folding or getting major stakes purchased by other countries. Our nation’s unemployment rate is over 6% and over 590,000 people lost their jobs last month alone. If you’re a Democrat, you’re in fear of eight more years of this. If you’re a Republican, you’re in fear of a black man ruling our country.
It’s sad and it’s sickening. Do you want to know why there’s been a bit of a lull at Mestew lately? This is why. We rant and rave, but even we get in ruts from time to time. That is why we’re calling on you to help pull us and the rest of Mestew Nation out of this funk. It’s time to shield away some negative energy for once and share a positive story. Share with the world something that has made you happy in the past week. We all could use a pick-me-up.
